Brenmar…

The past year has seen a busy Brenmar aka Bill Salas deliver much-talked-about and shared DJ mixes for the likes of FACT and Dummy, drop a release on Ikonika’s burgeoning Hum + Buzz label, hit the studio for production work and collabs with Nina Sky, Rashad & Spinn and DJ Sliink and offer up a blistering hit-heavy set in the Barcelona heat at Sonar earlier this summer. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

A seriously proficient DJ and producer, not to mention Red Bull Music Academy 2011 alumnus, the Chicago-born, New York-residing deck lothario is fast making a name for himself as a force to be reckoned with in modern club music with schizophrenic yet perfectly blended sets deftly jumping from R&B slow jams to UK Garage to Hip Hop to ‘90s House, much to the delight of a growing legion of fans across the globe.

This September Brenmar returns to Sinden’s Grizzly stable following last year’s ‘Let Me Know (Tasting)’ release with new single ‘Children of the Night’, featuring the hefty vocals of fresh talent Kaleena Zanders. A cover of Kevin Irving’s classic 1987 jam, it’s a creepy call to arms for the club kids with that special blend of dancefloor melancholy that Brenmar does so well. On the flip side a special House Mix brings a more nocturnal flavour.

Speaking about the release, Brenmar commented, “I heard the original ‘Children of the Night’ on a Trax Records comp and the vocals and topline just really struck a chord with me. I originally thought of just doing a bootleg remix but when I couldn’t find the a capella I thought I’d try my hand at a cover instead. I basically took it from 1987 and brought it up to 2012 with a little bit of 90’s house thrown in for good measure.”

‘Children of the Night’ is set for release through Grizzly on September 24th 2012.
